Sztormowa. Brazil in a simple recipe.
2 min read
Sztormowa is a Brazilian arabica from Mogiana, described as Santa Barbara, variety Yellow Bourbon. Its medium roast and nut and cocoa notes offer a clear starting point for home brewing. Start with a French press: its metal filter lets through more fine particles than paper, giving a different texture from filter coffee. That difference comes partly from the method, not only the beans. Compare Sztormowa in both brewers using the same water.
French press: 30 g coffee / 500 ml water, 4 min, coarse grind. These are starting points, not batch-tested recipes. For a bean-to-cup machine, start with the manufacturer’s instructions. Change one setting at a time and compare the taste.
Taste again as the coffee cools. Record the dose, water and time so you can repeat a cup you enjoy. If it is too astringent, try a coarser grind; if watery, check the ratio first. Change just one setting to make the comparison useful. Different brewers give different results, so use the numbers as a starting point. Water matters too: use fresh drinking water without an obvious unwanted smell.
The Sztormowa bag shows a building with a blue roof. Little trees grow beside it, figures travel on wheels and an octopus appears near the water. Each detail occupies its own corner of the illustration. You can look at them one by one as water warms the brewer. Then leave the bag where you can still see it. Soon you will look at the same picture over your cup. There is no need to hurry.
