How to brew coffee — method library
Choose your brewer, find a starting point and change one thing at a time. These cards are educational suggestions, not tests of current Baltissima lots. Your model’s manual takes precedence.
A ritual starts with one portion.
First set out the cup and brewer. Then measure coffee and water for your chosen method. A ratio of 15 g to 250 ml can be a starting point for filter coffee; a moka pot and an espresso machine need their own settings. Choose your equipment below. Next time, return to the same portion and change just one parameter. Write down the result before trying another recipe. Your own way of making coffee grows from that note: a few numbers and a taste you want to repeat.
Manual filter / V60
Manual filter / V60
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
- Dry coffee
- 15 g
- Input water
- 250 g
- Indicative water temperature
- 92–94 °C
- Indicative time
- 2:30–3:00 min
Prepare the correct filter and vessel. Rinse the filter, discard rinse water and add coffee. Wet the whole bed, then pour in calm stages. Observe taste and flow; do not extend brewing merely to reach a time.
Chemex
Chemex
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
- Dry coffee
- 15 g
- Input water
- 250 g
Match the proper filter and volume to the vessel. Do not block the air channel with the filter. Start with a filter ratio and medium-coarse grind; evaluate before changing again.
Automatic filter brewer
Automatic filter brewer
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
- Dry coffee
- 30 g
- Input water
- 500 g
Check capacity and the correct filter. Weigh coffee and water and start the programme according to the manual. The brewer controls pouring. Next time change only ratio or grind; this is not espresso.
French press
French press
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
- Dry coffee
- 30 g
- Input water
- 500 g
- Indicative time
- ≈4 min
Use a suitable vessel and coarser grind. Add water, wait about four minutes and lower the plunger slowly. Do not force strong resistance. Pour the brew and compare texture.
AeroPress Original
AeroPress Original
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
- Indicative water temperature
- 85 °C
- Indicative time
- 60 s
For Original, start with the current guide: 16–18 g coffee, medium grind, about 85°C and 60 seconds after stirring. Follow model markings for water. Use a stable cup and gentle pressure; do not invert by default.
Moka pot
Moka pot
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
Fill water according to the manual without covering the valve. Fill the basket without tamping. Use moderate heat. Do not open the hot pot under pressure; let it cool. Do not apply espresso’s 18/36 ratio.
Espresso machine
Espresso machine
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
- Dry coffee
- 18 g
- Beverage yield
- 36 g
- Indicative time
- 25–30 s
Match the dose to the basket, distribute evenly and prepare the bed. Weigh the beverage in the cup. 18 g → 36 g in 25–30 seconds is a starting point; judge flavour and flow, not time alone. Change one parameter.
Bean-to-cup machine
Bean-to-cup machine
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
Start with the manual, cleanliness and one coffee. Choose a programme for your cup. Adjust the grinder only as the manufacturer allows. No universal click setting or gram recipe fits every model.
Switch / immersion and valve
Switch / immersion and valve
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
- Indicative time
- ≈2 min
Match dose and water to device size. The valve holds water with coffee, then allows flow. The manufacturer’s suggestion includes about two minutes of immersion. Open the valve as instructed, keeping the vessel stable.
No-bypass / Pulsar
No-bypass / Pulsar
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
- Dry coffee
- 20 g
- Input water
- 340 g
Limiting bypass means less water travelling around the bed. Start with one manufacturer recipe and observe valve control. The 20 g / 340 g example is neither a universal standard nor a better-flavour guarantee.
Hot filter coffee onto ice
Hot filter coffee onto ice
A starting point, not a guaranteed result
- Dry coffee
- 15 g
- Input water
- 150 g
- Food-safe ice
- 100 g
Editorial proposal: 15 g coffee, 150 g hot water and 100 g food-safe ice: 250 g total water. Use a vessel suitable for temperature changes and adjust grind. This is not cold brew, which extracts cold. For cold brew, follow brewer instructions, hygiene and refrigeration; brewing time alone does not establish shelf life.
Water, a grinder and one small change.
Repeatability helps you understand your cup better than a collection of gadgets.

Before your first cup and order
How can I check coffee freshness?
Check the dates and information on the bag you receive. If you need the current batch’s roast date before buying, contact us. A best-before date and a roast date are different pieces of information.
Which coffee should I choose for a bean-to-cup machine?
Choose whole beans for the built-in grinder. Never put ground coffee in the bean hopper. Use a separate ground-coffee chute only if the manual allows it. Bursztynowa is our suggestion for a first cup with milk.
How should I store an opened bag?
Close it tightly and keep it dry, away from sunlight, the oven and strong smells. Use a dry spoon. Repeatedly bringing a cold bag into a warm room can cause condensation; choose stable everyday storage conditions.
When will you dispatch my order?
We dispatch within 5 working days and aim to send orders within 48 hours. Carrier transit time is additional. If a gift must arrive on a particular day, contact us before buying.
Can I choose a parcel locker?
The currently confirmed option is courier delivery to an address in Poland for PLN 18. Checkout shows available methods before payment. Contact us before ordering if you need another option.
Where can I find the coffee returns policy?
Read the delivery, returns and complaints information in the shop documents before opening the bag. To report an order issue, email kontakt@baltissima.pl with your order number. Confirm the return address and procedure before sending a parcel.
I need a business invoice — what information is needed?
Contact us before buying with the company name, address, tax number and planned order. We will agree the document details and handling. For larger deliveries, also see the business offer.
How can I collect coffee in Kuźnica?
On-site collection needs prior arrangement. Call +48 604 597 484 before travelling to Helska 4. We will confirm a time and availability; the address alone does not reserve coffee or a collection slot.
